Anomaly Index is a static, account-free site with no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or personal sighting intake.
What the site stores
The interactive introduction stores one value in your browser’s local storage:
ai:intro-seen. It records only whether the introduction has been completed or
skipped. You can remove it through your browser’s site-data controls, or replay
the introduction from the footer.
Search terms, filters, selected cases, map mode, and date ranges are encoded in the page URL so a view can be shared or restored. They are not sent to an Anomaly Index application server because the site has no application server.
What the site does not collect
Anomaly Index has no accounts, comments, forms, advertising, analytics, fingerprinting, location requests, live military tracking, or public sighting submissions. It does not ask for names, email addresses, precise device location, or other personal information.
Network requests
The map, fonts, search index, case data, and story data are served as static site assets. The interface does not contact third-party map or analytics services. Opening a cited source or repository link leaves Anomaly Index and is governed by that destination’s privacy practices.
The hosting provider may retain ordinary security and delivery logs, such as IP address, request path, timestamp, and user agent, under its own operational policies. Anomaly Index does not add identifiers to those requests or use those logs for audience profiling.
Corrections and reports
Personal sightings are out of scope. During the private repository release, corrections and security reports are handled through the repository’s private issue and security channels by authorized collaborators. A public intake channel will be documented before the repository becomes public.
